If you asked Ashley, when she was little, what she wanted to be when she grew up – the answer always included children. It wasn’t until a high school placement in a child care Toddler room that she found her true passion. Ashley attended the Early Childhood Education program at Durham College and graduated at the top of her class in 2010. She had a number of different job opportunities in the child care field helping add experience to her resume. In March of 2011, Ashley landed on the doorstep of Orillia Central Preschool and began working as an Assistant teacher. Since then, Ashley has utilized the stepping stones presented by Orillia Central Preschool to graduate from Assistant teacher to Lead teacher and, ultimately, to Program Supervisor at the Orillia Central Preschool North location. Ashley is a huge advocate of the importance of the early years, often reiterating the famous Bill Gates Sr. quote “the first five years have so much to do with how the next 80 turn out.” Ashley enjoys the challenge and responsibility of her current role and is very proud to be a member of such an extraordinary team of Early Childhood professionals working hard to ensure a safe, nurturing and inclusive child-centred program is offered to our community.
